Jamalpur is one of the oldest townships situated on the banks of the old Brahmaputra river, in the north-western part of the city lies the Horticulture Centre, Jamalpur, spread over twenty-five acres in a picturesque setting; Previously, the Center was attached to the Regional Agricultural Research Centre, Jamalpur, which later came under the Horticulture Development Board in 1980 and finally came under the Directorate of Agricultural Extension.
